The Steamie Sauna, Lossiemouth sits tucked behind the dunes on West Beach, with the Moray Firth stretching out in front and Covesea Lighthouse standing further along the coast. It’s a wood-fired sauna, a short walk from Lossiemouth itself.
The beach here runs for miles in either direction, backed by dunes and old wartime remains still visible along the shore.

There’s a café at the West Beach car park for a coffee or bite to eat, and a beach bar and restaurant a short walk along the coastline towards Lossiemouth town. Covesea Lighthouse offers guided tours up to the lamp gallery on Saturdays between April and October, alongside the RAF and Royal Navy Heritage Centre at its base. The beach itself is known for dolphin and seal sightings, and it’s one of the best spots in the area to catch the Northern Lights on a clear night. Lossiemouth town, with more shops and places to eat, is a short drive away.

From my visit
It's nearby, you can see the caravans from the sauna, but it doesn't feel like it's part of the site. There's enough distance that it still feels like its own separate space.
There's a portable shower right at the sauna, and the beach is about a five minute walk away for a proper dip. How far you'll need to walk once you're on the sand depends on the tide, it was out when we visited, so it was a fair walk to the water.
Not when we visited, we were the only two booked in. West Beach itself was very quiet with hardly anyone else around.
