About this sauna
Fyrhùs Sauna, Hopeman takes its name from Old Norse, meaning fire house, after the fireside gathering spaces used by Vikings and Picts who settled in Moray between the 8th and 12th centuries. It’s a converted vintage horsebox, based at Hopeman Beach, lined inside with alder sourced from sustainably managed forests in Finland.
The sauna is also available at Roseisle Forest and a private countryside site, alongside the regular sessions at Hopeman.

Bootleggers Bothy, a bar and grill overlooking the harbour, is a short walk away, alongside the Station Hotel for something more traditional. Hopeman Harbour itself has small shops and a gallery worth a browse, and the coastal path leads west towards Cummingston and its fossilised dinosaur footprints.
