About this sauna
Largo Castaway Sauna is set on a grassy bank beside the beach in Lower Largo, it is a wood-fired coastal sauna positioned just above the shoreline with open views across the sea.
The sauna has a quiet, tucked-away feel, with small-group sessions and a simple outdoor setup beside the beach.
Positioned only a short walk from the water, the setting feels calmer and less busy than some of the larger seaside sauna locations nearby.
This is where I tried my first wild sauna, and it couldn’t have been a better place to start.

What’s nearby
There’s a café in the village, while the beach and coastal walks are right beside the sauna. Lower Largo itself has a quieter, more residential feel than some of the busier seaside spots along the Fife coast.

From my visit
The beach is only a short walk from the sauna, although the distance to the water changes with the tide. At higher tide it’s very close by, while lower tide means more of a walk across the sand for sea dips.
Yes — there’s a cold bath beside the sauna, along with watering cans for cooling down between rounds.
Yes — the quieter setting, easy beach access and relaxed atmosphere make it feel approachable, even if you’re new to sauna and sea swimming.
