About this sauna

Elie Seaside Sauna is set on the dunes at Elie Harbour in the East Neuk of Fife, this seaside sauna looks out across marram grass, Woodhaven Bay and the coastline beyond through a full-length front window.

Built into a converted horse trailer with a simple wooden interior, the sauna sits slightly tucked into the dunes and angled towards the setting sun, with changing light and sea conditions shaping the atmosphere throughout the day.

Positioned close to the harbour and shoreline, the setting feels closely connected to Elie’s sea-swimming culture and wider coastal landscape.

Before you go

If you’re new to wild saunas, these quick answers might help

No — you can enjoy the sauna on its own.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes — you can move between the sauna, the water and breaks outside at your own pace.

From my visit

What stood out most about the location?

The sauna sits right within the harbour area, with people coming and going nearby and a relaxed, social atmosphere around the waterfront. From inside, the views stretch across the dunes and sea, giving it more of a traditional seaside setting.

Anything worth knowing before you arrive?

The streets around Elie Harbour are narrow and can feel tight for modern traffic, so parking can be difficult during busy periods, especially in summer. If you can, it’s easier to park a little further away and walk down to the harbour.

What’s the sauna itself like?

The sauna has a simple, stripped-back setup, with the floor-to-ceiling glass door keeping the dunes and sea in view throughout your session.
